Important
From 1 January 2026, all Belgian companies registered for VAT will be required to send and receive electronic invoices. To this end, all companies with a Belgian VAT number must register on the Peppol network. Do you have a foreign VAT number? Then electronic invoicing is not mandatory.

Peppol (Pan-European Public Procurement Online) is the network that enables companies to exchange electronic invoices. An electronic invoice is an invoice created in a legally predetermined format. This format allows invoices to be sent automatically via Peppol and read and processed immediately by compatible invoicing software on your computer.

Do it in two steps:
1. Register with Peppol
2. Link your electronic invoicing to BASE
From autumn onwards, you will be able to link your electronic invoicing to your BASE invoices.
You can find a summary of all your invoices in My BASE.
Please note!
From 2026, electronic invoicing will be the only legal document. This means that you will no longer be able to use PDF invoices from My BASE for accounting or VAT returns.
Yes, Peppol is mandatory for all Belgian VAT-registered companies. It is therefore important to take the necessary measures in good time. If you don't, you risk a tax penalty and may not be able to recover certain costs.
