Preparing for the indoor installation

Hurray! You're almost ready for the installation of fixed internet from BASE in your home. There are just a few more preparations you need to make.

The basic configuration

The basic configuration consists of your modem and network interface unit (NIU).

We put these...

  • where the drop cable enters your home;
  • never in a crawlspace or damp room (e.g. bathroom), for safety
    reasons.

 Choose an empty space for the installation that is...

  • a 40 x 50 cm area on the wall;
  • close to at least three available earthed mains sockets (or a power strip).
Devices

Keep in mind that you need to connect the fixed devices (e.g. TV, computer) to the basic installation. What if your devices are quite far from your basic installation?

Then use a wifi booster to get the internet signal from your modem to your devices.

You install the indoor wiring yourself or hire an electrician to do it for you. Choose to do it yourself? Then be sure to only use the correct cables. Look up what you need below, and buy them from a well-stocked DIY shop.
