All about your PIN code

What's the difference between the PIN and PUK codes?

  • PIN code
    The PIN code is a 4-digit number (e.g. 1234) that gives you access to your device. It is requested every time you switch on your phone. When you buy a new SIM card, you will be given a PIN code that you can change later.

    Good to know: you have 3 attempts to enter your PIN code. Have you entered the wrong code 3 times? Then your device will be locked for security reasons and you will need to use the PUK code.

  • PUK code
    Your PUK code is an 8-digit code (such as 12345678). This is very useful if your phone is blocked for any reason. The PUK code is usually longer than the PIN code. Read more about the PUK code

Frequently asked questions about the PIN code

Looking for your PIN code? There are two ways to find it:

  1. On My BASE, under "Your SIM cards", if you have a physical SIM card or an eSIM;
  2. On the cradle where your SIM card was inserted, if you have not replaced it.

Type the following code using the phone function of your smartphone and push call:

* * 04 * [old PIN code] * [new PIN code] * [new PIN code] #

Tip
Avoid choosing codes that are easy to guess, such as '1111' or your year of birth. This way your handset will be more secure.

Remove your SIM card  from your handset for a moment and then put it back in it.

Same problem?

Perhaps you already entered an incorrect PUK code 10 times? Then you will get the message 'SIM card rejected'. In this case, it means that we have locked your SIM card in order to protect your handset and your personal data.

This also means that your SIM card is not usable anymore. Buy a new SIM card via the My BASE.
