How can I create profiles for the BASE TV box?

Would you like a profile just for your children? Are you a fan of films or series? Create profiles with Telenet TV and go straight to what interests you.

What can you do with profiles?

  • Change the order of the channels however you like. Because your favourite channels are not necessarily the same as those of your housemates.
  • Create your own watchlist per profile and get personalized recommendations tailored to your viewing habits.
  • Do you prefer subtitles, but your partner doesn't? No problem. Set your preference for each profile.

 

Good to know: You can create up to six profiles. You can't set a PIN code for a profile.

How?

Via the side of your remote control. As standard, there is one shared profile for all users. That is your standard start profile. You can add new profiles (with ‘+’ on your TV) containing each user's personal preferences.

Change the channel order however you like

  • Press the house > Gear > Profiles > Manage channels. Have you decided to create a channel list? Then you must add at least three favourite channels to your new profile. 
  • Confirm by pressing the back button. Then you can still change the order of your favourite channels, if you like. Do that with the arrows. You can also always change your profile later (add and remove channels, etc.).

Tip: use the voice control button to quickly add a channel to your channel list. 

The shared profile is the profile that is found on your TV box as standard, with a standard TV guide, shared recordings and general settings.

Would you like to set a different profile as the standard profile? Press the house button > Gear > Profiles > Your standard profile. 

What if your TV is switched off briefly? Then you won't see the profile you set but rather the last profile that was active. That allows you to quickly continue watching. 

Differences between the BASE TV box and BASE TV app

You can change fewer settings via the BASE TV app than via the BASE TV box. The exact differences are shown below.

  1. Press the profile button on the side of your remote control. You see your profiles on the screen. 
  2. Switch profile with the arrows on your remote control. 
  3. Confirm with OK. 

You see the colour of the active profile on your remote control and on your TV.

You can delete a profile by pressing the house > Gear > Profiles > Change or delete your profile > Delete > Confirm.

Note: Have you permanently deleted a profile? Then the watch history is also permanently deleted. 

You can delete a profile from any other profile. You can't delete the shared profile.

Important information
  • Your recordings are always shared. Have you recorded a horror film via your own profile as a parent? Then your kids can also watch that recording from their kids profile. 
  • You can block channels via parental control. 
    Note: when you block a particular channel, it is blocked for all profiles. How do you change the PIN code? Press the house > Gear > Parental control > Change PIN code.
