Why is my first bill higher than expected?

Your first bill is a little higher than expected. Why is this? Because you are paying once for two different periods. Let us explain.

Your first bill

About 7 days after you become a customer, you receive your first bill. It shows two payment periods. The first is for the normal subscription charges for the following month. The second covers your usage during the first few days (transition period).

We charge this on a pro-rata basis, once only. This is why your first bill will be higher than expected.

Your subsequent bills will only include the normal plan charges, unless you buy extras such as bus tickets, games, apps, etc. These charges will always be added to your normal plan charges.

Mobile

Let's take a €29 monthly plan. If you receive your first bill, for example, 7 days after activation, we will calculate the price of your monthly plan for those 7 days. That's €29 ÷ 31 days = €0.93 per day, which we then multiply by 7. This gives you €6.51 for that period.

Internet

Have you chosen unlimited Internet? Then you pay €27 per month. If you receive your first bill 7 days after activation, we calculate the price of your monthly plan pro rata for these 7 days. That's €27 ÷ 31 days = €0.87 per day, which we then multiply by 7. In this case, the price for this period is €6.09. Have you also ordered network extenders? In this case, we'll also bill you the price of the individual devices.

Good to know

  • Wondering why the transition period is approximately seven days? That's simply the processing time we need at BASE to create your bill/invoice in our systems.
  • The date you ordered your monthly plan determines your billing date. Example: You order your monthly plan on 16 November. Then your billing date will fall on November 24.
  • You will then get your bill/invoice every month around the 24th. You can find your latest bills/invoices on My BASE or in the My BASE app
