General settings

The general settings are set to standard values. You can switch the wireless signal (personal wifi) on and off.

Speed test

With the speed test, you check your upload and download speeds and do a ping test.

Expert settings (e.g. MAC filtering, Security, Signal) are protected, as indicated by the padlock icon. Keep in mind: If these are set incorrectly, it can have a negative impact on your internet experience.

What do you have to do to change these settings?

  • Click the padlock icon next to Expert settings or click the padlock next to the setting you want to change (e.g. Security).
  • You get a notification that if the settings are changed incorrectly you may no longer have an internet connection.
  • Tick: I understand
  • Click: Continue
  • You can now change the expert settings.

You can read or change the following settings:

  • Wi-Fi channel (optimal default): Changing the Wi-Fi channel can result
in a more stable and/or faster connection. It is best to leave this set to
    automatic.
  • Wi-Fi standard (optimal default): These are the optimal BASE settings.
  • Wi-Fi frequency: Preferably, use both frequencies
    (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz).
  • Wi-Fi channel width: This is set to the optimal value. There is no reason to change it.

You can read or change the following settings:

  • Switch one Wi-Fi network on or off.
  • Wireless network name (SSID): Choose your own wireless network name. That helps secure your connection, and a customized name is often easier to remember than the default SSID.
  • Wireless security protocol: It is best to choose the standard settings. This way, your security is automatically adjusted depending on your PC's capabilities.
  • Network WPA key (Wi-Fi password): It is also best to personalize your Wi-Fi password. You remember your own password more easily, and it is more secure. Choose a password that has at least eight characters, and use a combination of lowercase and uppercase letters, numbers and symbols. Consider, for example, using a long sentence, with spaces.

With MAC filtering, you control which devices can access your wireless internet.

Here you can see how many and which devices are connected.
